The movement of world trade towards the Asian region

According to IRNA news report, the Director General of the International Cooperation Office of the Customs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stating that in the next few years, world trade will move towards the Asian region, adding: This region will be affected by international events and the change in the commercial taste of countries in the coming years. It will attract more volume of world trade.
In an exclusive interview with IRNA on Thursday, Hossein Kakhki called Iran’s foreign trade successful after concluding the agreement on the establishment of a free trade zone and added: After this agreement, exports to Eurasian countries continued to grow and started a path to gain Necessary preparations to become a permanent member of the Eurasian Economic Union in the future.
Referring to the 11% increase in Iran’s exports to Eurasian countries from one billion and 49 million dollars (in 2009) to one billion and 170 million dollars (in 1400), he said: In foreign trade, imports increased from 2 billion and 357 million dollars. In 2019, we reached the figure of four billion and 452 million dollars in 1400, which is a promising growth in our country’s foreign trade (import and export) and a major part of this success is due to the conclusion of the aforementioned agreement.

Kakhki stated that in the next few years world trade will move towards the Asian region and this region will gain a larger volume of world trade, adding that countries like India and Thailand are seeking membership in this union and envision a bright future for this union. is that if we can provide the necessary infrastructure for membership in this economic union, we can have free trade and provide competitiveness in the economic fields for the country.
He continued: Tariffs should be determined in such a way that we do not face problems; Achieving this goal, in addition to economic strengthening, will also cover the damage caused by the cruel sanctions, and in this way, we will be able to expand our share in global trade.
The urgent need of the country to develop commercial infrastructure
Director General of the International Cooperation Office of the Customs of the Islamic Republic of Iran pointed out that in order to reach the markets of the Eurasian Economic Union, especially Russia, appropriate infrastructure should be provided, and added: This requires laying the foundation for the development of trade. Our exports from the land route (from the border of Astara to the Republic of Azerbaijan and then Russia and the route of Armenia to Georgia and other borders that go to Central Asia and Eurasia) are facing many problems.
Kakhki mentioned that one of these problems at the Astara border is the existence of only one metal bridge that cannot allow more than one truck to cross at the same time and said: under ideal conditions, 250 trucks can cross this bridge every day, which is definitely not enough, and the development of our business with Eurasian countries and Russia are facing serious problems with these conditions.
He stated: In maritime trade, a regular shipping line should be launched from northern ports to Eurasian countries, while we do not have regular coordination and successful diplomacy to launch shipping lines. Our main and most important problem is the category of transportation to Russia through the land border.
