To date, 7 free trade zones and 16 special economic zones have been established throughout Iran. Free trade zones have a strategic position due to their potential international links, and special economic zones have turned their eyes to markets outside Iran due to their value in serving the main industries and improving the country’s distribution and supply system.
According to the statistics provided by the Trade Development Organization of Iran (TPO), there are currently seven free trade zones in Iran including Kish, Qeshm, Chabahar, Anzali, Aras, Arvand and Mako.
